PROGRAMS

The flow arts are best experienced in person–join us at one of our events!

All of our events are pay-what-you-can/free unless otherwise noted.
Financial contributions help us cover studio costs and pay fair wages to the folks we hire, and your presence is also a meaningful contribution!

NOTE: COVID-19 policy varies by event.
Complete details can be found in the event descriptions on our calendar.

Spin JAM

Spin Jam happens every 2nd and 4th Saturday year-round from 3-5, and is open to all. Spin Jam is an “open jam” style event, where flow artists of all skill levels get together to practice and play in an unstructured environment. This event has been around for over a decade and is Seattle’s longest running flow jam!

Open Jams

An "Open Jam" is where flow artists of all skill levels get together to practice and play, and is a great way to meet other community members and learn or share new skills. Open jams are open to all and operate on a sliding scale/pay what you can model. Financial contributions help keep the lights on, but the contribution of your presence is meaningful too, and no one will be turned away for inability to pay.

COMMUNITY FIRE JAM

The magic of fire dancing is the flame that drew many of us to flow arts and object manipulation. Community Fire Jams are an opportunity to practice spinning fire, learn about fire safety, and are a great place to start out volunteering with SFAC. Our Community Fire Jam is one of the only permitted fire jams of its size in the United States, and we’re so proud of and grateful for the hard working team that makes these events happen!

Outreach

The joy of flow arts is for everyone, but relatively few people have the opportunity to practice the flow arts. SFAC hosts outreach events to spread the flow to underrepresented populations and communities. Whether you are 6 or 106, we'd love to see the smile on your face when you learn your first trick!

First Burn Fire Safety

Want to burn without getting burned? SFAC promotes a culture of strong safety practices by offering a monthly Fire Safety 101 training. We teach fire spinners new and old how to reduce risk of injury, avoid damage to property, and work with city offices to obtain proper permitting and insurance.
